Charter Itineraries

Ikatcha is licenced for power boat charters anywhere in the Solent from Nab Tower in the East to the Needles in the west. The waters of the Solent range from open stretches where we can blast along full bore at 35 knots, to sheltered estuaries with villages and pubs on the river banks.

It's your day so the itinerary can be as varied as you would like within the destinations we are able to offer, but here are some suggestions to get you started.

Ikatcha at the Needles

Whatever your choice, you'll be in the competent hands of a skipper who knows the waters and watering holes of the area well having sailed here all his life. We have laid out a few sample itineraries to give you some ideas - feel free to mix and match from the different destinations to tailor an itinerary that looks good to you. Or, if you don't know the area, contact us and get our recommendations on some special places to go.

Route 1: Open Waters

Depart Lymington for a high speed blast across the western Solent to the Needles, passing Hurst Castle on the way (right hand photo). This will blow any cobwebs away! Take a look at the famous Needles lighthouse from sea level, then work our way back along the scenic Isle of Wight coastline, passing the famous sand cliffs of Alum Bay.

Our first stop will be at Yarmouth (left hand photo), a historic port on the north west coast of the Isle of Wight, where we can take morning coffee or lunch at the 18th Century George Hotel, one of our favourite watering holes. Then back into the Solent for more high speed fun on our way to Cowes where we either moor up at West Cowes for the hostelries and shops of Cowes High Street, or sail up the Medina River and moor up at the famous riverside Folly Inn.

After a break we head back out to sea and across Southampton Water, passing Calshot Castle, and up into the River Hamble to view the boatyards and hostelries of this famous stretch of riverside. Alternatively, we can sail up to Southampton to see if there are any cruise liners in. Finally, return to Lymington via the mainland coastline.

Route 2: Something for the other half

If your partner is less enthusiastic than you are about bombing around on the water, why not combine shopping and shipping? Depart Lymington for Portsmouth where we will moor up at Gunwharf Quays next to the landmark Spinnaker Tower and go ashore to explore this prestigious designer shopping outlet, take in views of the south coast from the Tower, or visit the Royal Dockyards just 5 minutes walk away where you can see Nelson's Victory and Henry the Eighth's Mary Rose. Alternatively, you can leave the loved one and your credit card at Gunwharf Quays if you dare while we go back out on the water and bomb around some more.

Route 3: Laid back cruising

Depart Lymington and head along the coast to the Beaulieu River where we will sail upstream to Bucklers Hard. Here we can visit the the famous Master Builders Hotel for a drink or explore the maritime museum telling the story of the village's past as the boatyard where the warships of Nelson's navy were built from New Forest oak. Briefly sail upstream, tide permitting, as far as Beaulieu.

Alternatively we can head further east across Southampton Water to visit the River Hamble. The Hamble estuary, made famous in the TV series 'Howard's Way', is home to several major marinas and boatyards around Hamble village, Warsash and Swanwick. The villages themselves offer plenty of opportunities for refreshment ranging from a swift pint to a full sit-down meal.

These are just some suggestions - you could mix and match pretty much any of these destinations depending on your preference. Or simply phone us on 07831 488566 and call on our experience for some recommendations.

All our trips are planned to your bespoke requirements, so whether you are looking for a relaxing day out with family and friends, a corporate hospitality day with clients and key team members or just an exciting day buzzing around the Solent, contact us to discuss your ideas.

Please note for your safety and ours we reserve the right to change or cancel any pre-agreed itinerary on the day of the charter at the discretion of the skipper if weather conditions are unfavourable.
